"Gameplan for the Gift of Graying"
From Monday, May 9th to Wednesday June 29, 2005
KUNI presented a series of eight reports on issues facing seniors,
their children and caregivers. The series, "Gameplan for the Gift of Graying"
included interviews with legal and medical
experts, caregivers and individuals facing sometimes difficult decisions. Topics
included "Having a Heart to Heart Discussion," "Where Will I Live?," "What's in
the Will?" and "How Do I Navigate the Medicaid/Medicare Maze?". The reports,
produced by Pat Blank, will ran Mondays during Morning Edition and
Wednesdays during All Things Considered.
The series was made possible in part by Pharmacy Care
Centre of Anamosa, AARP of Iowa, and Bartels Lutheran Retirement
Community, Waverly.

Iowa seniors in their homes instead of Medicaid paying for more
traditional nursing home care. Guest Kevin Concannon, Director of the

The new Medicare Prescription Drug card. Guests
include Kris Thompson, Senior Health Insurance Advocate from the Iowa
Insurance Division, and Bob Greenwood, an independent pharmacist from
