KUNI/KHKE Volunteer of the Year

Public radio could not exist without a solid group of volunteers who do a wide variety of tasks. At KUNI/KHKE, over 200 volunteers help with the on-air pledge drives twice a year. Others help with special events and special mailings, or by serving on the Friends Board of Directors.

Each December, the Friends of KUNI/KHKE present the Pansey Wallen Memorial Volunteer Award to recognize exceptional volunteer efforts on behalf of our public radio stations. The award honors the memory of a longtime volunteer and supporter and was established after her death in 1985. The 2006 award was presented at the KUNI Studios during the annual Live from Studio One holiday party on Monday, December 18. KUNI/KHKE Membership Manager, Angela Vezdos, made this year's presentation.

This year's recipient is KARL SCHWAAB.
