Public radio could not exist without a solid group of volunteers
who do a wide variety of tasks. At KUNI/KHKE, over 200 volunteers help with the
on-air pledge drives twice a year. Others help with special events and special
mailings, or by serving on the Friends Board of Directors.
Each December, the Friends of KUNI/KHKE present
the Pansey Wallen Memorial Volunteer Award to recognize exceptional
volunteer efforts on behalf of our public radio stations. The award honors the
memory of a longtime volunteer and supporter and was established after her death
in 1985. The 2006 award was presented at the KUNI Studios during the annual
Live from Studio One holiday party on Monday, December 18. KUNI/KHKE
Membership Manager, Angela Vezdos, made this year's presentation.
This
year's recipient is KARL SCHWAAB.
